Oh my gosh, when he was asked about if the Bush administration was exploiting the ignorance, I was just thinking “Ugh, here we go, he’s using this to attack the other side just like every politician, left and right out there would,” and I was so relieved when the author told him that it was a problem with both sides. This guy knows what he’s talking about folks, and he’s not biased.
@thedirtynasty @thedirtynasty I seriously doubt that Gangs would be eliminated with the end of drug prohibition. They would simply move onto other things if drugs were no longer profitable. Prostitution/sex trafficking, money laundering, weapons, and I am sure there are quite a few other schemes.
However I do agree that drugs should be legalized and regulated.

Are prisons are over-flowering with nonviolent criminals who’s crimes had no victims.
$40,000 spent annually to keep ONE “criminal” in prison.
We spend multi billions annually on the drug war.
We could eliminate every gang in America if prohibition didn’t exist.
The tax revenue of regulated drugs would be HUGE.
Even with prohibition drugs are still readily available and more accessible to youth seeing as drug dealers dont ask for ID.

@Hirimson First of all, anyone that cites an opinion piece from the left-wing hack Olberman and portrays it as informative news should have their head examined.
Olberman calls the proposed 13-story golden mosque a “minor community center?” He compares opponents to the location of the mosque with Nazis and their supporters in 1930s Germany (a common ploy by many in the hard Left).
No one is saying that a mosque can’t be built.. They question the motives behing this particular location.
The biggest irony in all of this is that these members of the media don’t investigate the ROLE OF THE MEDIA in all of this. After 9/11, Americans were watching/reading the news more than usual. How about the mainstream media’s role in this? In the lead-up to Op. Iraqi Freedom, Pres. Bush never did, in his many speeches, blame Iraq for 9/11.
Shenkman sounds more like a left-wing political hack, not a historian. What does a tax pledge by Obama have to do w/ Iraq?
